SUZUKI VITARA: THE ULTIMATE VERSATILE SUV
Launched in 2015 and refreshed in 2018, the Suzuki Vitara receives a new safety update in 2024 to meet European GSR2 standards. While its compact dimensions (4.17 m) and hybrid powertrains remain unchanged, this facelift includes advanced safety features such as emergency braking, drowsiness detection, and a rear-view camera. Despite these enhancements, the Vitara remains competitive with an attractive price/equipment ratio. Its design evolves subtly with a more understated grille and new alloy wheels, while still maintaining its universally appealing look.
The 2024 Suzuki Vitara is available with two hybrid powertrains, combining energy efficiency with performance suitable for versatile use. The first engine is a 1.4 Boosterjet Hybrid 48V, delivering 129 horsepower and paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h. This mild hybrid engine improves acceleration while reducing fuel consumption, thanks to an energy recovery system during braking. The second option is a 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid, producing 115 horsepower, coupled with a 6-speed AGS automatic transmission. This engine stands out for its smoother driving experience and better fuel efficiency, with the capability to drive in electric mode over short distances. Both engines showcase competitive results in their segment, with optimized mixed fuel consumption around 5 to 6 l/100 km depending on the variant, and reduced CO2 emissions thanks to their hybrid technology.
Inside, it now features a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation and connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, although the build quality, characterised by hard plastics, falls short of the competition. Nevertheless, the Vitara stands out for its generous space, spacious rear seats, and a modular boot capacity ranging from 375 to 1,120 litres. Robust and functional, the Vitara continues to appeal to drivers seeking a versatile SUV that is comfortable in both urban and highway settings, while remaining true to its practical spirit.
