EV (all-electric) mode is one of four available driving modes and sets the car to use only electric power - if the battery is sufficiently charged. In this mode, acceleration is accompanied only by the roar of electric motors, no other gasoline engine noise. There is also an “automatic” driving mode in which the car decides when electric or gasoline power is most appropriate. Usually this means a power supply for stop-start traffic and a combination of the two power sources at higher speeds. Finally, the battery charger mode exclusively uses the gasoline engine and recharges the battery. It can even bring it back to a full charge, which is useful if you can't seem to stop and plug the car into a charger.

All this gives impressive statistics. With an 18.1 kWh battery on board, the possibility of driving entirely electric will allow you to travel 75 kilometers according to official WLTP figures. That gives more than 5 kilometers per kWh, one of the best performances in its category.

The CO2 figures are extremely low at 22 g / km, which translates into an impressive tax advantage. The performance is also good with a 0 to 100km / m time of 6.0 seconds which once again leads the Suzuki Across to beat most of the rivals.

The Suzuki Across does very well on all surfaces for a large plug-in hybrid SUV. The E-Four 4x4 system provides good grip on slippery winter roads, while the transition from electric to gasoline is smooth and quiet - it's a refined car and excellent build quality. The Suzuki Across also shines by its comfort and its interior fittings: there is a lot of space in front, in the rear and in the trunk - the latter offering 490 liters of luggage with, in addition, a shape facilitating the loading.

The materials of the dashboard are elegant and relatively soft. The large switches on the dashboard provide very smooth handling, and the rubberized finish of the air conditioning controls adds to the rugged appeal of this SUV.

The motorized hatch reveals a flat, easy-to-load floor and seats that fold down to increase trunk volume to 1,198 liters. There are also plenty of useful storage spaces inside, in front of the driver, passenger, in the doors and between the seats. And it's a car that is easy to get in and out of with wide-opening doors that also open and close perfectly well with sound that indicates real build quality.

Also note the large exterior mirrors which give an excellent rear view and the nine-inch touch screen integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
