New Jeep Compass e-Hybrid Plug-in: the plug-in hybrid joins the range

Following the e-Hybrid and 100% electric versions, the new-generation Jeep Compass is now available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Called e-Hybrid Plug-in, this new version develops 225 hp and can travel up to 94 km in 100% electric mode according to the WLTP cycle. It further expands the extensively electrified Compass range while retaining the practical features and versatility of Jeep’s compact SUV.

225 hp and up to 94 km in electric mode

The new Compass e-Hybrid Plug-in combines a 150 hp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 125 hp electric motor, delivering a combined output of 225 hp. The system is paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and sends its power to the front wheels. Maximum torque reaches 350 Nm.

Its 17.9 kWh battery provides an electric range of between 90 and 94 km, according to the provisional WLTP figures published by Jeep. This range makes it possible to complete many everyday journeys without using the combustion engine, provided the vehicle is recharged regularly. With the 7.4 kW onboard charger, a full charge takes less than three hours.

When both energy sources are used, Jeep announces a total range of up to 983 km, thanks in particular to the 55-litre fuel tank. Provisional homologated fuel consumption is stated at between 2.7 and 2.9 l/100 km, with CO₂ emissions ranging from 61 to 63 g/km.

A spacious Compass that remains true to the Jeep spirit

This new powertrain does not alter the fundamentals of the latest-generation Compass. Measuring 4.55 m in length and 1.90 m in width, with a wheelbase of 2.80 m, the SUV offers a 550-litre boot, complemented by 34 litres of storage space at the front. Ground clearance reaches 200 mm, while Jeep announces a wading depth of up to 470 mm. The Selec-Terrain system, offering five driving modes, is also included.

Inside, the Compass e-Hybrid Plug-in features a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 16-inch central display, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available equipment also includes Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control, Matrix LED headlights and a hands-free electric tailgate, depending on the chosen trim level.

On the outside, the Compass adopts the model’s new styling cues, with a more architectural silhouette and Jeep’s characteristic design elements. The Summit trim notably stands out with its 20-inch wheels, illuminated seven-slot grille and LED rear light signature.

With this e-Hybrid Plug-in version, the new Compass offers an intermediate solution between the e-Hybrid and the 100% electric model, allowing a large proportion of everyday journeys to be completed on electric power while retaining the range provided by a combustion engine for longer trips.
