sobriety and pleasure, performance and comfort
The new Q7 plug-in hybrid unveiled in December combines innovation and aesthetics. More eco-friendly than SUVs, it is designed in compliance with the new 2020 standards for carbon dioxide emissions, with a discharge of 64 to 69 g/km depending on the tyres used.
Its 3.0 TFSI turbo petrol V6 engine base gives it quality performance, with a developed power of 340 hp and a torque of 450 Nm. The addition of an electric motor with lithium-ion battery, with an energy capacity of 17.3 kWh, allows it to adopt a more ecological driving in town. Because of this, it has a 100% electric range of 43 kilometres and can reach a speed of 135 km/h, even if at this speed, the battery life is a little compromised. The battery is easily recharged thanks to a conventional Mennekes plug.
In order to avoid the risk of danger that the silence of its electric motor represents, a loudspeaker is positioned above the right front wheel to emit an artificial noise intended to warn two-wheelers and pedestrians to the presence of the vehicle. The new Q7 also has an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, which is exceptionally flexible and quick. This Q7 TFSI-e is fitted with the legendary Quattro all-wheel drive, which was first patented by the German manufacturer in 1980.
An interior of high technological quality
In terms of standard equipment, you will find those of the S-line series, namely, among others, red brake callipers, 20-inch rims and adaptive suspensions.
Regarding the management of its hybrid system, the best driving option is automatically selected depending on the situation: country road, motorway or city traffic. An "EV" function key is used to preferentially choose the thermal or electric motor. Two operating modes, Auto and Hold, are available: Auto mode manages the battery charge with preferential switching to the electric motor in urban traffic. The Hold mode allows you, for example, to end a long journey made on the thermal engine in the silence of the electric motor.
