Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA & GTAm: radical sedans for collectors

We were expecting a surprise for the Geneva Motor Show (cancelled) and so it is not a Tonale SUV, a Giulia coupe or an 8C but an Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA for Gran Turismo Alleggerita. Video! Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA: the return of a legend! The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA derives from the already high-performance Quadrifoglio and receives a more powerful version of the Alfa Romeo 2.9 L V6 bi-turbo engine, which here increases to 540 hp. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the GTA benefits from a weight reduction of 100 kg compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio, i.e. 1,520 kg, with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.82 kg/hp. Impressive!

Work has been done to increase the aerodynamic load. The solutions are the result of technical know-how derived directly from Formula 1, thanks to synergies with Sauber Engineering and the use of the Sauber Aerokit side skirts, specific rear spoiler and the Active Aero Splitter front spoiler. The central exhaust system Akrapovič in titanium integrated carbon fiber rear diffuser is new, as are the rims on 20″ with a central nut. Handling has been optimized by widening the front and rear tracks by 50 mm and by developing a new set of springs, shock absorbers and silentblocks for the suspensions.

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm: even more radical!

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA also has a variant: the GTAm. An even more extreme, 100% “street legal” version of the GTA, characterized by its only two bucket seats, roll bar and 6-point seat belts. On the GTAm, the aerodynamic efficiency has been optimized to the extreme by adding a wider spoiler at the front and a real carbon fiber spoiler at the rear. The Giulia GTAm is thus capable of extraordinary performance. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.6 seconds.
