Formula 1: extension of the Alfa Romeo / Sauber partnership for 2021

Ready for a new season

Alfa Romeo and Sauber Motorsport will again join forces in the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship season. The partnership between two of motor sport’s most recognized brands began in 2018 when Alfa Romeo joined the team as title sponsor. In the first three years of operational collaboration, the Team has twice finished the championship in eighth place and is fighting to finish in this position again this season. True to its competitive spirit, Alfa Romeo will therefore take up the challenge again next season.

Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi confirmed their participation in the 2021 season

Alfa Romeo announces the renewal of Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi’s contracts with the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN Formula 1 team for 2021. During the current season, Antonio has produced a number of solid performances, proving to be one of the best in the starting phases, with several positions regularly won in each race. As the most experienced driver in the history of Formula One, Kimi Räikkönen will continue to bring his extraordinary racing and technical skills to the team with which he made his debut in 2001 (then Sauber F1). The 41-year-old Finn, World Champion in 2007, has repeatedly demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the sport.

An exclusive livery to mark the event

To celebrate this announcement and to pay tribute to all fans of Italian racing cars, Alfa Romeo will display an exclusive livery on its C39 single-seaters at the upcoming Grand Prix of Imola, a legendary venue for Alfa Romeo. The logo, created for the 110th anniversary of the brand, will be prominently displayed on the engine hood next to the words “Welcome back, Imola”, a tribute to one of the most emblematic circuits in Italian motor sport. From the Tourism or Sport category to Formula 1, Imola has been the scene of major victories for Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo and Sauber Group: a technical and commercial partnership

The partnership between Alfa Romeo and Sauber Group goes far beyond the race. This collaboration allows Sauber Engineering to bring the technical expertise of Sauber Engineering to certain vehicles in the Alfa Romeo range, drawing on the know-how of Sauber’s engineering and aerodynamics departments as well as its mastery of composite material manufacturing.
