Audi Confirms Its Potential in Its First Appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix always represents a unique challenge in Formula 1. For the Audi Revolut F1 Team, the 2026 edition marked a symbolic milestone: the brand with the four rings made its first appearance on the streets of the Principality. On one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar, the team demonstrated throughout the weekend the progress made since the beginning of the season, confirming the growing potential of the R26 single-seater.

An R26 Particularly Comfortable on the Streets of the Principality

From the very first practice sessions, Audi displayed a particularly encouraging level of performance. Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto both managed to break into the top ten during the first two sessions, illustrating the effectiveness of the work carried out by the engineers and drivers on a circuit where precision makes all the difference.

For Monaco, the team had prepared several circuit-specific upgrades. A new front suspension geometry improved the car’s agility through the slowest sections of the track, while aerodynamic adjustments optimised downforce through the Principality’s many corners. These improvements enabled the R26 to remain competitive throughout the weekend and to challenge several teams that have long been established at the front of the Formula 1 grid.

Promising Lessons for the Rest of the Season

Although the final result did not fully reflect the performances shown over the course of the weekend, Audi leaves Monaco with many reasons for satisfaction. The pace demonstrated by both drivers confirmed that the R26 now possesses the qualities required to compete consistently in the heart of the midfield.

Nico Hülkenberg notably highlighted the potential demonstrated by the car throughout the various sessions, while Gabriel Bortoleto had to contend with a start from the pit lane, a particularly difficult situation to manage on a circuit where overtaking opportunities are extremely limited.

Beyond the final standings, this first Monaco experience represents an important step in the development of Audi’s Formula 1 project. In an environment where even the slightest mistake carries an immediate penalty, the team demonstrated its ability to prepare a competitive car suited to the characteristics of a circuit as unique as Monaco. It is an encouraging sign ahead of the upcoming rounds of the championship, as the Audi Revolut F1 Team continues its rise within the pinnacle of motorsport.
