Audi Q5 V6 TDI: more power, more efficiency
Audi expands the range of its family SUV with the arrival of a new 299 hp V6 TDI engine, now available to order. Already introduced on other models within the brand, this technology combines MHEV plus mild hybridisation, an electric compressor and quattro all-wheel drive in order to deliver an enhanced balance between performance, efficiency and driving comfort. With this evolution, the Audi Q5 further strengthens its position within the premium SUV segment by offering a modern and efficient diesel alternative.
A hybrid V6 TDI powertrain combining power and responsiveness
This new V6 TDI engine develops 299 hp (220 kW) and 580 Nm of torque, enabling the Audi Q5 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds. The powertrain is paired with MHEV plus technology, combining a starter-generator, a drivetrain generator and a lithium iron phosphate battery. This system can provide up to 18 kW of additional power during acceleration phases, improving responsiveness while optimising fuel consumption.
The electric compressor also plays a key role by reducing turbocharger response time. The result is quicker rev build-up, improved low-end torque availability and a more immediate driving feel. This architecture also enables energy recuperation during deceleration, contributing to controlled fuel consumption ranging from 5.8 to 6.5 l/100 km depending on the version.
Technology focused on efficiency and everyday usability
Beyond performance, this powertrain introduces solutions designed to improve everyday efficiency. The MHEV plus system allows partially electric driving phases during manoeuvres, urban driving or at constant speeds, enhancing driving comfort while reducing emissions.
The Audi Q5 V6 TDI also stands out through its compatibility with HVO 100 fuel, compliant with EN 15940 standards. Produced from renewable resources, this fuel significantly reduces CO₂ emissions compared with conventional diesel. Combined with quattro all-wheel drive and the seven-speed S tronic gearbox, this engine contributes to making the Q5 an SUV that is both high-performing, versatile and aligned with today’s mobility challenges.
